ASC Hub
The ASC Hub is a special part of our school that supports children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), especially those with Autism.
It is designed to help students succeed in a mainstream school environment while receiving extra support when needed. Pupils follow the same curriculum as their peers, but also have access to specialist help either in the classroom or in small group sessions outside of it.
The goal is to help each child build the skills they need to join in fully with school life and prepare for adulthood. The Hub also helps other schools in Peterborough learn how to better support children with SEND.
Our staff aim is to:
-
Promote mutual respect within the academy community to create an inclusive, supportive, and reflective environment where students on the autism spectrum can thrive
Through a Hub placement, students will:
-
Develop a personalised toolkit of strategies that enable them to build independence during secondary school, continuing into post-16 education and adulthood

What Will I Achieve with a Hub Placement?
With a Hub placement, you will:
-
Learn a set of personalized strategies that help you become more independent in secondary school, and as you move on to further education and adulthood.
What Might You Experience?
You might:
-
Find it hard to keep up with schoolwork because of your autism, even though you can understand the lessons like your classmates.
-
Have trouble making friends and working with others because your social skills are developing more slowly.
-
Feel very anxious, which makes it hard for you to learn in a regular classroom.
-
Struggle with changes in your routine and structure.
-
Have different sensory needs that might require special adjustments.
-
Feel anxious and sometimes not want to go to school.
How Well Are You Doing in School?
- If you’ve had a cognitive test, you might be in the low average ability range or higher. This means you can do schoolwork at a similar level to your classmates and aim for independent learning.
How Is Your Language?
If you’ve had a language test, your core language score might be in the low average range or higher (for example, a scaled score of 7-13 on the CELF-5 test).
