Enrichment Curriculum

What is the Enrichment Curriculum?

Starting in September 2026, our Enrichment Curriculum will offer students access to free activities across sports, arts, academic, leadership, and personal development sessions across three main pillars. Plus, there is an optional fourth pillar for chargeable on and off-site enrichment if students wish to take part in these activities.

  • Discover & Connect – Clubs and projects that encourage creativity, STEM, and collaboration.

  • Mind & Body – Activities focused on physical health, fitness, and mental wellbeing.

  • World & Culture – Opportunities to explore languages, global issues, and cultural experiences.

  • Outreach – Optional paid activities on and offsite

Required Enrichment Choices
  • Two activities from each of the three main enrichment pillars (Discover & Connect, Mind & Body, World & Culture)
  • Two reserve choices from each of the three main enrichment pillars (Discover & Connect, Mind & Body, World & Culture), which will be used if an activity is oversubscribed

Students will complete their selections online; we strongly encourage you to discuss these choices together to ensure they reflect your child’s interests and aspirations.

Outreach Enrichment (optional)

In addition to the main enrichment pillars, students have the opportunity to select activities from our Outreach Enrichment pillar. These activities all have a cost associated and take place both on and off site. As such, they may extend beyond the 3:45pm published academy day.

  • Outreach activities are optional
  • These activities involve an additional cost, which will be clearly indicated during the selection process

Choosing an outreach activity does not remove the requirement to select two activities from each of the three main pillars.

Deadline for Choices

The deadline for submitting enrichment choices is Friday 15th May 2026.

Students can change or amend their selections at any point up until this deadline. After this date, choices will be finalised to allow for timetabling and organisation of groups and staffing.

While we will always aim to allocate students their preferred activities, this cannot be guaranteed where activities are oversubscribed.

Students who miss the above deadline will be allocated to enrichment activities based on availability.

If you have any questions about the enrichment programme or the selection process, please contact us at:

Changes to Academy Week – Starting September 2026

As previously mentioned, there is a requirement for Stanground Academy to increase our school week by 25 minutes per week, every week. To deliver our vision, we are proposing the following changes:

Curriculum and Enrichment Structure

All year groups will continue to receive 25 one-hour lessons per week, plus the compulsory timetabled enrichment session, Thursdays 14:45 to 15:45,

Current Year 7 – 9 students:

For our current year 7 – 9 students, they will be required to select two activities, plus two reserve choices from each pillar; Discover & Connect, Mind & Body, World & Culture. These choices will cover the curriculum for the academic year (one activity per half-term). There are no fees associated with activities from these three main pillars.

Students will also have an opportunity to choose a paid activity (and a reserve choice) from the fourth pillar, Outreach. This pillar is optional – there is no requirement for an activity to be selected from this pillar.

Current Year 10 Students:

For our current Year 10 students (rising Year 11, 2026/2027), a series of compulsory targeted intervention/revision sessions will be in place instead of the enrichment curriculum. This time will be dedicated to support GCSE preparation and examinations. Students will be directed to sessions by the Outcomes team using up to date performance data. Further details on the curriculum will be shared in due course.

Current Post 16 Students:

Our current Post 16 students (Year 12, rising Year 13 and in-coming Year 12), will be directed to a bespoke Post 16 support curriculum consisting of careers guidance and personal development opportunities, as well as dedicated intervention time to support A-Level (or equivalent) preparation and examinations. Further details on the programme will be shared in due course.

Further details on the enrichment curriculum will be shared in due course, including the choice of activities, booking procedures and interventions.
