Careers Intent
We will inspire ambition, broaden horizons, and equip every student with the confidence, skills, and knowledge to thrive in a changing world. All students will leave the Academy with aspirational, achievable goals and the self-belief to pursue them. Our careers programme supports the development of the whole individual, preparing them for adulthood, lifelong employability, and to become successful active citizens for the future. We are committed to ensuring that every student flourishes beyond expectations, empowered to shape their own path with purpose and resilience."
At Stanground Academy our careers programme starts in Year 7 and is built on strong partnerships with employers, educators, and other organisations. We guide students towards clear pathways into apprenticeships, jobs, and further education after Years 11 and 13. The programme meets the Baker Clause requirements and offers impartial, high-quality careers advice. Careers education is part of everyday school life and is shaped by local job market information to keep it relevant and useful. We’re also developing easy-to-use systems to track progress and measure impact, helping us offer tailored support where it’s needed most.
Our Futures Zone is a welcoming space with IT facilities where students can explore their goals and learn about different career options with the use of unifrog. We follow the Gatsby Benchmarks to ensure quality and focus on building key skills like communication, problem-solving, resilience, and leadership. All staff play a role in supporting careers education here at Stanground, making sure students hear consistent messages and feel ready for life beyond the Academy.
In June 2023, Stanground Academy proudly achieved the nationally recognised Quality in Careers Standard, demonstrating our commitment to delivering high-quality, impartial careers education. This award reflects the strength of our careers programme in preparing students for their future by meeting rigorous national benchmarks and promoting meaningful employer engagement, personalised guidance, and skill development.
In July 2025 the Academy was proud to be awarded the Silver Award for Skills Builder. This was a remarkable achievement, especially given we achieved it in our first year of running the programme.
